This interdisciplinary workshop aims at exploring the phenomenon of de- and re-contextualisation of motifs, texts and ideas into new literary, cultural and material contexts. More specifically, we will reflect on two main aspects related to the re-contextualization in both literary texts and images. On the one hand, the specific re-use of Ancient Greek texts and topoi through different genres, times and cultures will be taken into account. On the other hand, we will reflect on transmediality, i.e. on the translation of contents through different media, and on the artful combination of visual and verbal channels in the transmission of culture.
The aim of this two-days workshop is to stimulate among participants a fruitful discussions on theoretical, linguistic and literary aspects related to the issue of de- and re-contextualisation.
